The Discovery Process
A client may have a reasonably good idea of what they would like to accomplish, but may not have a good grasp on what is possible within their time and budgetary constraints. During this preliminary step, we learn what we can (based on what is known and what can be divulged) in an attempt to ‘discover’ exactly what the client wishes to accomplish. We use this step to help guide the client by offering feedback regarding what might be possible within the framework of their constraints and suggest a few ideas with the intent of formalizing a set of design requirements for the next phase of the process.
The goal of this first meeting is to define the problem in terms that all parties can understand and agree upon so that we can determine whether we have the skills required to meet the client’s needs within the stated schedule and budget.
